An all too common scenario in my clinic:
I walk into the patient exam room, and greet my new patient whom I’m meeting for the first time, “Good morning, Ms. Fiction. What can I do for you today, today?”
Ms. Fiction: “I am here for my diabetes and blood pressure medication refills.”
Me: “Oh, good – did you bring your medication bottles?”
Ms. Fiction: “Oh no, I forgot to bring them.”
Me: “That’s ok – just tell me the names and doses of your medications.”
Ms. Fiction: “Oh, Darn! I don’t remember the names, either.”
